Tse Addo House
A house that puts its planting on the roof parapet, where the plot has no room for a garden.
Parti
Hedge the roof, not the garden
The plot is built out almost to its boundaries, so the green is moved upward: the roof terrace is edged with a continuous clipped hedge in a raised planter, which gives the terrace privacy from the neighbours at eye level and gives the street something other than a parapet to look at. The front is white render with one timber panel and a batten screen over the first-floor opening, and the garage is set into the ground floor rather than added beside it. The site steps down at the rear, which the section uses to get a second terrace at the lower level.
