The Red Wall House
A double-height glazed hall with a single red wall behind it, visible from the street.

Parti
One red wall behind two storeys of glass
The front of the house is a two-storey glazed hall, and inside it, set back, is a single red wall that runs the full height. It is the only saturated colour anywhere in the scheme, which is why it works from the road: the glazing reads as a frame and the wall reads as what has been framed. Timber battens close the flanking bay to stop the hall becoming a greenhouse, the roof overhangs the glass line by enough to keep high sun off it entirely, and the rest of the palette is white render, dark glazing and one timber panel.
