Monogram Apartments

The block is cut vertically up the middle by a recessed slot, planted at every level and open to the sky at the top. It is a small amount of lettable area given away and it buys a great deal: cross-ventilation to the flats either side, daylight into the middle of a deep plan, and a front elevation that has a centre. The roof parapet is planted to match, the base is faced in split stone where it takes the wear, and the block alongside is faced in timber to keep the two masses distinguishable from the street.
