Louvre Court

Two identical blocks are set side by side and joined at the centre by the stair, which is faced in timber and left as the only warm material on the elevation. Every balcony is closed with a dark louvre screen deep enough to be used with the doors open in the afternoon, which is what lets the elevation be almost entirely glazed without the flats overheating. The aerial view shows how the pair sits in a terraced row on the plot, with the parking courts kept between the blocks rather than in front of them.
