Fluted Screen House

A vertical fluted screen runs from the ground to the parapet across the entrance bay. It is deep enough to throw a moving shadow across itself through the day, which is most of the reason it is there — a flat rendered panel in the same position would read as blank. Behind it is the stair, so the screen is also doing the job of giving the stair light without giving the street a view of it. A single warm strip is recessed at the head of the screen, and the balcony to one side is left as a plain white tray so the screen keeps the elevation to itself.
