Apartment extension
Adom Terrace
An extension that adds a floor without adding bulk, screened in timber the full height.

Parti
One screen, top to bottom
An existing apartment building takes another floor and a roof terrace. The addition sits behind a timber batten screen that runs unbroken from the ground to the new parapet, which does two things at once: it shades the glazing behind it, and it makes the old and new work read as one building instead of as a block with a storey added on top. The roof terrace is finished in stone and its parapet is the only element allowed to interrupt the screen line, so the eye reads the vertical before it reads the join.
