3 regions on the register

The studio is in Kumasi and the practice works throughout Ghana. What changes between one city and the next is not the standard of the drawing but the constraints it has to answer — sun, wind, rainfall, salt and the grain of the street.

Kumasi

Ashanti Region

06 on the register

The studio is in Kumasi, and so is a good part of the register — hotel, student accommodation, retail and civic work in and around Airport City, Ayeduase, Atasomanso, Kokobeng and Bantama. The inland climate and the density of the central city change the answers, so the drawings change with them.

Accra

Greater Accra Region

10 on the register

A large part of the register is in Accra — houses, apartments and mixed use across Kanda, Trassaco, Dansoman, Tse Addo, Kwabenya, Kweiman, Weija, Oyarifa and Amasaman. The studio is in Kumasi, and the drive down is a routine part of running these jobs.

Tema

Greater Accra Region

02 on the register

Housing and industrial work in Tema and along the Accra–Tema corridor, where the harbour, the wind off it and the estate grid all set the terms.

Working elsewhere in Ghana, or outside it? The studio takes commissions beyond these three regions — the constraints simply have to be read before anything is drawn, which is what Stage 0 is for. Tell us about the site.
