Trassaco Lantern
A house whose stair is pulled to the front and glazed full height, so it lights the street.

The stair is the lantern
Most houses of this size bury the stair in the middle of the plan where it needs artificial light all day. Here it is pulled to the front elevation and glazed from ground to roof, so it daylights itself, and after dark the whole double-height volume reads from the drive as a lantern with the flight curving through it. The rest of the plan is arranged around that decision: living rooms open off the landings rather than off a corridor, the upper floor is set back behind a planted roof terrace, and the soffits over the entrance are washed with warm light so the approach is lit from above rather than by anything on a post.
