Shifted Planes
A house assembled from white planes, each slid past the one under it to make its own shade.

Slide each plane past the one below
The house is composed as a set of horizontal planes that slide past one another in plan rather than stacking square. Every overhang that move produces is used: the ground floor entrance sits inside the deepest one, the first-floor terrace is roofed by the plane above it, and the drive is covered without a carport being added anywhere. Where the planes pull apart the gap is glazed full height, so the joints in the composition are also where the daylight comes in. The palette is held to white render, one stone panel and dark grey glazing, because a building made of this many overlapping pieces does not need a second idea in the materials.
