Kweiman Cove

The upper floor comes out a long way over the entrance and the drive, and the edge of that overhang is followed the entire way round by a recessed cove light. In daylight the cantilever reads as a hard white line; after dark the same line reads as a warm one, and the shadow gap underneath makes the upper floor look as though it is resting on nothing. Behind it the glazing is set well back into the reveal so the shading is doing its job rather than being decorative, and a timber louvre screen closes the one flank that faces a neighbour.
